Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a 30 year old Italian guy, living between Madrid, London and Padova. I have a multi-faceted background ranging from creative writing to digital business, which has allowed me to tackle projects in different operational areas including key account and project management, business development and service design, scriptwriting and video production. I’m passionate about sustainability, the arts, sports and technology - which is probably why I ended up co-founding a tech company centred around making businesses of all shapes and sizes good for nature!

Please tell us about Forestmatic, and what inspired you to found the company

I met my founding partners while we were doing our masters degrees. The devastating effects of the current climate crisis were very clear to us, and we understood the role that technology has to play in driving change, and deeply influencing the corporate world, to lessen and reverse this crisis. So we designed a suite of digital products that easily connects brands and businesses with high-impact tree-planting projects, a data-filled platform, and a dashboard on which to track the growth of all the trees that have been planted, with real photographs and relevant information, so as to make the concept of sustainability through trees as transparent for all stakeholders as possible.

You and Forestmatic have been a partner of MGG since the company’s founding. Why are the two companies a good fit?

MGG embodies the circular model that most businesses should be aiming for, to make the best out of every resource employed. We always say that there’s a difference between planting trees and making them grow, and that difference is data. With MGG defining their brand on values such as sustainability, transparency, ethical commitment, and carbon neutrality, the connection between our two brands and the people they represent was immediately solid. In my view, this is one of the most modern and cohesive approaches to business, and it’s exactly what we, at Forestmatic, are striving to advance with our business too.

What goals do you have, and what do you hope to accomplish?

To date, we’ve planted more than 10,000 trees, but we plan to increase that number by 10 times in the next two years. As a purpose-driven business, our biggest obsession concerns generating positive impact. At Forestmatic, success is measured in many ways, including the number of trees planted, the metric tons of CO2 sequestered from the atmosphere, the communities supported through our activities, and more.

What does sustainability mean to you?

To me, it’s the economic, environmental and social balance that can allow us to perform business related activities without affecting future and present generations. The concept of circularity closely reminds me of Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economy concept, which I find brilliant. We used to look at economic indicators that focus on infinite growth, while in reality, we should be focusing on two fundamental aspects to perform every related economic analysis: our social foundations (human rights) and our ecological ceiling (finite resources).
